The day was 30th June 2010 Wednesday, my bunk 01-02 had our
very first bunk inspection conducted by out Field Instructor.
I could still remember the first moment when we enter the bunk on the 8th June enlistment day, the bunk had a very bad filthy and dusty smell, it's horrible....
During the confinement weeks, we had heard rumors from our seniors "Botak". They said that it will be likely that there will be a bunk inspection on the very last day of the confinement and that the Field Instructor will find all means to get our Walk Out shirt as wet as possible!!!
After hearing about all those "Tips" from the seniors, we are all worried about it already. Probably because everyone had been confinement for 10 days of "Hell" already and everyone wants to have an easy book out day, everyone just wanted to go home quickly....
We didn't had much and proper cleaning materials to do proper cleaning, all we had was just a broom, dust pan, detergents, floor brushes and some pails. After much sweeping and dusting, one of the squad mates suggested than we could use detergent and water to wash away the dirt out.
It sounded like a very foolish ideal, to use washing detergent to scrub the floor and to barely wash the detergent with water out of the room, it will take tremendous effort to scrub water out and bring pails of fresh water in again and again......
Thought it seems like a very foolish ideal, we stick to that plan. There were eyes questioning as we were performing out meticulous stun of pouring pails after pails, scrubbing and swiping water out from the door.
everyone was left half dead after the cleaning, but we were left with a brand new sparkling clean bunk. The air felt ever fresher then before. Those who were questioning us at first was surprised and amazed that we pulled together and had it done.
But sadly we were forced to moved out of the bunk we tried so hard to clean, just after mere 7 weeks stay because of the YOG. The management was trying to empty the other coy to make place for YOG staff and thus we had to move up to 03-31 to make space for other squad to come in. That was very sad for us, not only because we had our effort in it but also it means we have to travel all the way up to the 3rd story instead of level 1 which is so much inconvenient!!!
