Universal Studios Singapore
23rd march 2010.
Yesterday was 23rd march, which happens to be one of my buddy Yong Han's birthday. He wanted and planned to do something special for his special 21st celebration.
Coincidence or not, this march was also the grand opening month of the great Universal Studios Singapore.
So he planed and gather some of his friends. I was so excited,
I could clearly remember a ride I have taken before which is close to a real roller coaster, but was only those of "Uncle Ringo Fun Fair" which is those you'll find around neighborhood pasar malam. Until this came....
Sorry bro, I know you like to keep it at low profile.
but once again Happy Birthday to you!!!
- Warning -
The following content may contain spoiler.
We started the morning with some breakfast from
Long John silver, while waiting for a late comer!!! (Shall not name who he is for now.)
But if he is ever late again for more than an hour again, he will get it !!!
We reached VIVO while the shops are still closed.
Left VIVO when almost all of it was preparing for
their opening. Does this suggest about how long
we waited for the late comer huh?
We took a bus ride outside VIVO,
the ride was about $2 and Walah,
here we are.
For $66 (off peak rate) you'll receive
- entry ticket plus
- $10 food voucher
- $5 retail voucher
- 1st stop Hollywood
- 2nd stop Madagascar
Sorry only a few photo, because all Madagascar got was only kids rides..
- 3rd stop Far Far Away!!!
We went for Shrek 4-D Adventureattraction, it was a 4-D movie about SHREK and his friends VS Lord Farquaad ghost (the evil villain who die in the first movie)
I was bored, so I filmed us queuing.
So What's 4-D ? X NOT 4-D from SgPools
4-D is basically just 3D + Shaking sea
+ occasional water spitting during the play
+ air blowing from beneath and neck
Enchanted Airways
The roller coaster for juniors, nothing special. But definitely and confirm better than the Uncle Ringo Fun Fair ones.
- 4th stop The Lost World
next was Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure ride,
we sat on the big round bumper boat (image), sorry but had to borrow image from mrBrown. Not because we didn't have a waterproof camera, but they didn't allow camera photography on broad, which the notice board states clearly. I'm a law abiding citizen, like most Singaporean I won't do what i was told not to. But you could always try, but don't get caught!!!
There were 7 people on broad, and only 2 or 3 of us manage to survive the ride without getting our hairs wet. I'm one of those lucky few, I have manage to survive the ride with only my pants wet!!! Leonard got all drenched...
The Canopy Flyer was like an junior Inverted roller coaster ride. Although it can be quite HIGH when it enters tight corner, epically when you're at the back seat. Because you won't know when to expect an sharp corner. But nevertheless it's was only my warm up for the coming big ride, the Battlestar Galactica: CYLON!!!
- 5th stop Ancient Egypt
<< Up Skirt
I almost got into the longer skirt restroom...
It look alike Loh, who can tell whether this is male or female restroom in a quick glance?
and what if some urgent dude in need of restroom, rushed in the female gents?
They should had the male one in blue or something,
Revenge of the Mummy - indoor roller coaster. With real burning fire show during the ride,
I suggest you to bring a stick of mash-mellow to go with it.
4 thumbs up.
Treasure Hunters - kids ride (video)
- 6th stop Sci-Fi City
and of course, Sci-Fi City will not be complete without....
the Battlestar Galactica duelroller coaster ride, choose between Humanor Cylon.
dueling roller coaster means that the coaster is design to set off at the same time and just as the name suggest, they are dueling. It induces more adrenaline rush, as both of them travel into a near miss collision.
TheHuman viperride is a seated roller coaster ride and stands 14 storey high.
the Cylon raiderride is a Inverted roller coaster, which exposed your legs out into the air.
this ride stands 14 storey high and has 5 loops. This is the best ride of the park!!!
At the beginning no one dares to try theCylonride after I suggested it, and I kept on mentioning about the ride but no one seems daring enough yet.
From my point of view, I feel that it would be a waste of money if you avoid this ride. Because this is the ride of the park and if you don't take this now then when? When you are in your fifths or sixths?
At the end, I only manage to get the birthday boy to go with me on theCylon. I had a tough time convincing him to take on the ride, especially when you are also scared of the ride....
the ride was awersome!!!
you could feel all the G's force rushing through your vein when it's manoeuvrings the tight corner, twisting and turning 360 degree at top speed doing 5 loops and a near ground miss...
So much excitement, I came out wanting more. But no ones wants to go =(
Next we went for the Humanride, this time with us was Taufiq. The ride was only exciting during the first fall, after it there is no much excitement as compare to theCylonone. TheCylonone has more lasting excitement and adrenaline rush, more shiok!!!
After the ride, it feels like there is nothing I couldn't accomplish if I wanted to and
I was also laughing like mad man at some point of the ride, while others were all screaming away....
can't wait any longer for the genting trip already, and get to try on their coaster...
I want more morE moRE mORE MORE!!!!!
- 7th stop New York
Dinners @ Casa Del Wild
The portion was quite big, price range around $9.90 - $14
have to fork out extra for the drinks. Lucky there were still
some food vouchers left over.
after the dinner we went to clear the $5 retail voucher
as usual the high priced souvenirs at tourist attraction. You will have to top-up for a better soviniour, otherwise
you can only get a key chain or a fridge magnet.
I got for myself a Shrek's Donkey magnet @ $9.90
which I have to top additional $4.90 for it
we caught a glimpse of KungFu Panda before we went back
to VIVO to get our free cone from Ben and Jerry's
but we were rejected by the extreme long queues...
.
So we went back our own ways.....
If you are looking forward to go to Universal Studios Singapore
I suggest you do it soon, before the increase their ticket quota
to allow more people in to make the park more crowded. Go on the weekdays, to save money and waiting time. the waiting time for the rides is very acceptable for now.
